# Bank Account (Powens)

The **Bank Account** integration — powered by **Powens** — connects Boza to your business bank accounts through open banking. (In the connectors list it appears as **Bank Account**.) It captures software payments that flow directly through your bank — rather than through an accounting tool — so no SaaS spend slips through the cracks.

Powens is the bank-feed counterpart to the [Pennylane](/docs/integrations/pennylane.md) integration: use Pennylane for invoices from your accounting platform and Powens for payments seen directly on your bank statement. You can run both at once.

## What Boza Does with Powens

Once connected, Boza reads your bank transactions to identify recurring software and SaaS payments, then matches them to your applications and vendors. This surfaces spend that never appears in an invoice or accounting export.

Boza only reads transaction data. It cannot move money or modify anything in your bank account.

## What Data Is Synced

| Data Type                                     | Purpose                                    |
| --------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| Outgoing payments (debits) | Detect SaaS and software spend |
| Refunds | Adjust spend totals accurately |
| Transaction label, amount, date, and currency | Match payments to vendors and applications |

Boza does not read your account balance, personal transfers, or any non-software transactions beyond what is needed to detect SaaS spend.

## Setup

1. Open **Integrations** from the main navigation.
2. Select **Bank Account** and click **Connect**.
3. A secure Powens window opens in a new tab. **Choose your bank** from the list.
4. **Sign in with your online banking credentials** and authorize read access to your transactions.

You enter your banking credentials directly with Powens and your bank — never in Boza. Synchronization starts after the connection is authorized.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://boza.gitbook.io/docs/integrations/powens.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
