# Act on Several Applications at Once

Approve, unapprove, track, untrack, assign admins, merge, or delete many applications in one go from the selection bar.

## Steps

1. Open **Applications** and tick the box of each application you want to act on. You can tick rows on several pages and after sorting; the selection is kept.
2. The selection bar appears at the bottom of the window and stays there however far you scroll, with the count of selected rows on the left.

3. Choose an action:

| Action                      | What it does                                                                                                                                                               |
| --------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Approve** / **Unapprove** | Sets the approval status of every selected application |
| **Track** / **Untrack** | Includes the applications in, or removes them from, your managed inventory. The button shows **Track** when every selected application is untracked, **Untrack** otherwise |
| **Unapprove & Untrack** | Both at once, for applications that should leave the inventory |
| **Assign Admins** | Opens the owners dialog to add application admins to every selected row |
| **Merge** | Combines two or more entries into one. Greyed out below two selections, with the reason in a tooltip. Admins only |
| **Delete** (trash icon) | Removes the selected applications after a confirmation |

4. To start over, click the **×** at the right end of the bar. The selection is cleared, including rows ticked on other pages.

## Expected result

The list refreshes when the action completes and nothing stays selected, so the next selection starts clean. A toast confirms that the action was applied, or tells you it failed so you can try again; nothing is changed on screen until the server has answered.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Vendors** has the same bar with **Merge** only. See [Merge duplicate vendors](/docs/tutorials/merge-duplicate-vendors.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://boza.gitbook.io/docs/tutorials/select-and-act-in-bulk.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
